Black Lives Still Matter

In the summer of 2016, to show support for the Black Lives Matter demonstrations happening all over the country, I created this LEGO “Black Lives Matter” sign. After the pointless death of George Floyd in Minnesota a few days ago, protests and demonstrations have been going on all over once again, and I feel it’s time for me to repeat this message.

My heart goes out to all the loved ones of George Floyd and all others who have lost their lives because of their race. The police who are meant to protect the public are too often guilty of disrespectful and violent behavior towards people of color. As a white man I have no way to know what it must feel like, but my heart aches for those who are obliged to live in fear of violence or death any time they have an interaction with law enforcement. We as a people should be better than this.

If you’d like to build your own copy of this sign, see the instructions I made for it. You can view each page of the instructions as an image (pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and the parts list) or by downloading the PDF. See all the photos in the Flickr album (slideshow)
