On October 22, BayLUG (Bay Area LEGO Users’ Group) put on a display at the East Bay Mini Maker Faire in Oakland, CA. We had nearly 20 members participating and occupied a whole room at the Park Day School where the event was held.
I brought a bunch of stuff – the more recent models (Teddy, kangaroo, rooster, California flag, and plane) that I’ve been taking to the September and October BayLUG meetings, as well as Kermit:
We also had a Micropolis display, primarily consisting of my models:
My Robert Indiana “LOVE” and “LEGO” sculptures were on display in the window on the way in to our room.
We had a play area with a Minecraft theme, and kids had fun building things on it.
One of the more talented mosaic builders in the club is Patty Sherin who, through her company Mo’Brickz, offers a monthly adult LEGO build experience at a bar in Pacifica. She also sells LEGO artwork.
Her Rick & Morty mosaic won the best mosaic trophy at Bricks by the Bay this year. It was on display here as well.
We also had some nice LEGO train models on display, with a clever bridge spanning the gap between two higher tables and a lower level table with a separate loop of track.
These are just some of the highlights – check the whole Flickr photo set for the rest.
