I am interviewed on “A Look at LEGO” Podcast

I was honored to be interviewed for this week’s episode of the “A Look at LEGO” podcast. Take a listen.

We talked about Heather Braaten’s passing, Bricks by the Bay, my history with LEGO, Maker Faire, my recent MOCs (Rainbow Connection: Kermit the Frog with Banjo and Four Track Signal Gantry), Bricks Cascade (a new convention in Portland, OR), running LEGO conventions as a nonprofit, my advice for someone getting started with LEGO building, the interaction between LEGO and the fans, and the explosion in new LEGO conventions all around the country. Of course, thanks to The Brothers Brick for featuring the trailer a week ago, as that’s where Jonathan saw it…

If you don’t listen to LAMLradio, I highly recommend it. Hosts James Wadsworth and Aaron Andrews (“DARKspawn”) feature interviews with movers and shakers of the LEGO scene, talk about LEGO news, and discuss a few key “MOCs of the week” in each episode, which come out about once a week.

Lately James has also been putting out video podcasts, called appropriately enough LAMLtv. I’ve done two of those as guest episodes, featuring footage and interviews from BrickCon in Seattle last October, and have plans to do a few more. I’ll post those here too, of course.

(In case you were wondering, “LAML” stands for “LEGO and more LEGO”)

My Video of BrickCon 2008 (Part 2) on LAMLtv

As promised, I made a second episode for LAMLtv about BrickCon. The main feature is an interview with Joe Meno, editor of BrickJournal.

This video stuff is a lot of fun. I’ve got a lot more ideas for video projects. For example:

  • BayLUG meeting and event footage
  • Interviews with BayLUG members
  • My MOCs and those of other local folks who will consent to being taped
  • Other LEGO conventions (I’m already planning on BrickFest PDX in 2009)

My Video of BrickCon 2008 (Part 1) on LAMLtv

At BrickCon 2008, I shot video of a lot of models on display and interviewed a few people. The result has just been released as an episode of LAMLtv, the new video podcast arm of LAMLradio. This episode features interviews with Simon Kent, design lead at Lego Creator in Denmark, and Jenn “The Brick Chick” Wagner, as well as footage of models on display.
