2015 was another year of three LEGO Advent Calendars: City, Friends, and Star Wars. I barely made the Day 1 deadline, posting at 11:46 PM! As usual, each post was originally a separate blog entry, starting with Day 1, and continuing with a daily post about that day’s advent models. However, to clean up the site, I’ve condensed all those daily posts to a single post per year. Here’s the 2015 edition.
Each year LEGO produces several advent calendars, featuring 24 mini-models, one for each day of December through Christmas Eve. For several years I posted these entries each day on my blog.
If you haven’t gotten your Advent calendars yet, here are some links to them on Amazon: Star Wars, City, Friends.
Day 1
Day 1 brings us a Friends minidoll in a festive sweater, a micro scale Star Wars ship that I don’t recognize, and a pair of little remote control cars for City.
Day 2
Day 2’s City model is a boy with a camera and a pretzel(?!); in Friends, we get a pair of ice skates with a little table; and Star Wars’s model is the Sarlacc Pit to accompany yesterday’s model, which apparently was Jabba the Hutt’s sail barge.
So here’s Day 1’s girl and Day 2’s boy playing with the race cars from Day 1…
Here are the Star Wars models so far – Jabba’s barge and the Sarlacc Pit:
Yesterday's Star Wars model was Jabba's sail barge apparently, and today we get the Sarlacc Pit to go with it.
And this is Day 1’s Friends figure trying out Day 2’s skates:
Day 3
For the third day of the 2015 Advent Calendars we have a sled for Andrea (the Friends mini doll), ice skates and a tiny rink for our City figure, and either a micro scale tank or a minifigure scale droid for Star Wars. [EDIT: Apparently the Star Wars model is a LIN demolitionmech autonomous minelayer seen briefly in Episode IV, so it is minifigure scale.]
Andrea tries out her new sled
Our City kid (let’s call him Timmy from now on) tries on his new skates
Andrea uses one of the race car remote controls to operate the droid/tank
So far all the food items have come in the City calendar. Hope Andrea isn’t getting too hungry! Timmy’s eating the pie and pretzels.
All the food provided so far has been in City. I guess that's how Andrea stays so slim. Promoting anorexia?
Day 4
Day 4’s calendar brings us a snowman (Friends), a kiosk for the ice rink (City), and the Jawa selling the droid from Day 3 (Star Wars).
Here we see the Jawa with his merchandise:
And here are the two kiosk modules from City:
And here are all the figures so far prepared for fun on the ice… the snowman on the sled, and the others on skates:
Day 5
Today the Friends set gives us another figure, while City gives us a cute biplane and Star Wars continues the Jawa theme with a micro scale Sandcrawler.
Imagine the Sandcrawler is in the far distance.
She hacked the biplane to make it remote controllable using one of the controllers from Day 1 of the City calendar. Luckily that antenna/lever part is one of the items LEGO always gives extras of.

Day 6
Today the City calendar gives us a wind-up bulldozer; Friends gives us some skis, poles, helmet, and a slalom flag; and Star Wars gives us a weapons rack with a flashlight/blaster and bow/arrow.
Yesterday’s figure tries out the skis.
The Jawa from Day 4 tries out his new weapons.
Day 7
Today’s calendars give us another kid minifigure with a snowball and an iPod or iPhone or something like that (City), a stage for Andrea to sing on (Friends), and a micro scale Ewok village.
Day 8
Day 8’s City model is a cute lamppost decorated for the holidays; Friends continues the musical theme with a nice big speaker; and Star Wars gives us a cute Ewok who dwarfs the Ewok Village we got yesterday.
Andrea joins today’s models for a little Christmas caroling. The Ewok is beat boxing into the second mic.
The elements from Day 8 in the LEGO 2015 Advent calendars go well with Andrea and her stage. The Ewok does some beat boxing in the spare microphone.
Day 9
Day 9 of the LEGO 2015 Advent Calendars gives us a festive holiday throne from City, a weapons rack with a gold blaster from Sta…. oh wait, that’s Friends, and it’s a saxophone. And Star Wars is a catapult for the Ewoks.
The Ewok grabs the sax and busts out some smooth jazz to accompany Andrea.
Day 9’s post ran a couple days late; I took several of the photos on the 9th but life got in the way, and the entry didn’t go up until after midnight on the 11th.
Day 10
The 10th day of the 2015 LEGO Advent Calendars gives us a Christmas tree from City, an assortment of beauty products from Friends, and an Imperial Stormtrooper from Star Wars.
The Christmas Tree was probably the most complex build yet, and I found it difficult to distinguish the gold and silver 1×1 round plates in the diagram. I’m pretty sure I got it right, but I can imagine a kid being very frustrated.
Horsing around with the Stormtrooper and the Friends beauty products…
“I feel Pretty!”
“Hold still, you’ve got a snag in your back hair.”
Day 10 was late too; I didn’t start taking the photos until 11:45 PM and didn’t quite make it before midnight.
Day 11
Day 11’s LEGO entries are a clock in the style of Day 8’s streetlamp (City); a hat, magic wand, and tiara (Friends); and an Imperial Star Destroyer (Star Wars).
Rear view of the Star Destroyer:
The Stormtrooper has added remote control antenna to the Star Destroyer and is playing with it:
Yesterday's stormtrooper has added a remote control antenna to today's Star Destroyer and is taking it for a spin.
The lamppost from Day 8 matches the clock:
Andrea and her friend try on the contents of the box of costume parts:
Day 11’s post ran a day late too, though I did at least get the photos up on Flickr on the right day…
Day 12
Can you believe we’re half way there? Day 12 brings us a pair of gifts from City; an adorable bunny with a little arch to sit under, and a far-too-large carrot to eat from Friends; and a gun rack with a trio of blasters from Star Wars.
The presents look great under the tree:
Andrea put a bow on the bunny, and is holding up the carrot
The Stormtrooper tries out his new toys:
Day 13
Today City brings us a thief with a crowbar and a backpack of ill-gotten $100 tiles, Friends brings a cupcake stand with a $100 tile sitting there for the taking, and Star Wars brings us a droid.
The City and Friends models present a scenario that is too easy to pass up…
Sorry I didn’t have any bright ideas for incorporating the Star Wars droid.
Day 14
Today we get a rideable mini train engine from City, an oven for making cupcakes from Friends, and a micro Millennium Falcon from Star Wars.
Rear view of the Millennium Falcon:
The thief is making his getaway on the train engine:
Friends figure from Day 5 has restocked the cupcake kiosk after Day 13’s robbery using Day 14’s oven:
The two kids are playing Star Wars with the Star Destroyer and Millennium Falcon, which have been converted for remote control:
The two kids from City are acting out scenes from Star Wars with remote control Imperial Star Destroyer and Millennium Falcon
Day 15
The 15th entries from our LEGO Advent Calendars are a car for Day 14’s train (City); coffee pot, mugs, saucepan, and a white cupcake (Friends); and a blaster turret (Star Wars).
The thief has co-opted the train car and the blaster turret and is now armed and dangerous!
Meanwhile the Friends cupcake kiosk now serves coffee and white cupcakes, and Andrea is sampling the wares.
Day 16
Today’s calendars give us a forest ranger police guy (City), a table with a big cake (Friends), and a festive red and white micro fighter (Star Wars).
We add the new table to the cupcake shop:
The forest ranger chases after our thief, but I don’t think his megaphone is any match for the Star Wars blaster.
Day 17
For Day 17, we get a police snowmobile (City), a pair of benches and a campfire (Friends), and a Rebel snow soldier (Star Wars).
The forest ranger cop hops on the snowmobile to chase after the thief:
The two Friends figures are enjoying today’s set:
The Star Wars snow soldier has added remote control to Day 16’s A-Wing fighter and is playing with it:
Day 18
City and Friends are very simple models – a dog with a bone in a bowl, and a table consisting of 3 plates and a brick. But Star Wars makes up for it with a detailed cute AT-AT walker.
The table is kind of low to go with the benches we got in Day 17:
The Stormtrooper joins the fun to re-enact the Battle of Hoth with remote control A-Wing and AT-AT:
Day 19
Today’s haul is a girl with a cupcake and an iPod (City), a weapons rack with hockey sticks (Friends), and a miniature Hoth Ion Cannon (Star Wars).
She joins the Friends cupcake party, plugging her iPod into the speaker from Day 8:
Friends vs. Star Wars – two enter the rink, one comes out:
Minifigure from Day 17 prepares to shoot the Ion Cannon:
Day 20
Today’s Advent Calendars bring us a City snowman, hockey goals from Friends, and a probe droid from Star Wars.
Comparing the new snowman with the Friends one from Day 4:
Adding Day 20’s hockey goals to Day 19’s face-off:
The Stormtrooper took off his skates and added a remote control antenna to the probe droid:
Day 21
Today City gives us a campfire with roasting marshmallows, Friends gives us a catapult for snowballs, and Star Wars gives us a console with a shooting gun.
Happy Winter Solstice everyone! While officially it is tomorrow (December 22) that’s based on GMT. Locally the actual moment of maximum winter is Monday, December 21, 2015 at 8:49 PM PST.
Only four more shopping days left until Christmas! Are you ready?
Benches from Friends go nicely with the new fire. Too bad the minifigs with stubby legs can’t sit down.

Day 15’s turret goes up against the new one from today. Not sure which is supposed to be Empire and Rebel, but I lined up a figure for each one.

Day 22
Today’s LEGO Advent calendars give us a Space Shuttle fuel tank and booster rockets (City), a table with three stacked jars for target practice (Friends), and R2-D2 with antlers on his head (!) (Star Wars).
Taking aim…
Counting down…
Day 23
Happy Christmas Eve Eve! In this penultimate day of Advent Calendars, we get the space shuttle to go with Day 22’s set from City, a Christmas tree from Friends, and a Star Wars sleigh-like vehicle.
Here’s what it looks like with the shuttle mounted on the tank and rockets:

Day 24
Well we have reached the end of our 2015 Advent Calendars. Hope you’ve enjoyed my posts, and I hope you had a chance to open your own calendar(s) each day. Our final entries are Santa Claus himself from City, an adorable penguin from Friends, and Santa-3PO from Star Wars.
Here’s a cute little scene with Santa in front of the tree and presents from earlier:
The last three days of Star Wars make a nice little set – R2-D2 towing the sleigh with Santa-3PO

All the collected models from the City calendar:
And Friends:
And Star Wars:
Star Wars Advent calendars are known for the mini-models of spacecraft, vehicles, and structures:
Nearly every LEGO set comes with extras of the smallest parts, and this is true for each day of the Advent calendars as well. Here are all of the extra parts lined up for viewing:
Christmas is tomorrow! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

[Day 1] I believe that micro scale ship is supposed to be Jabba the Hutt’s sail barge. Here’s a link to the larger scale LEGO set of the same ship:
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Jabbas-Barge-75020/dp/B00CNBS5WE
[Day 1] the first day is jabba the hut’s cruiser. we assume the second day is meant to be the monster that lives in the hole in the sand???? What do people think? Sue
[Day 1] I agree, it’s Jabba’s sail barge, and Day 2 is the Sarlacc pit.
